The Marvel Age of Comics

maxriffner:

How Captain America was created, according to Stan Lee (from Secrets Behind The Comics, published in 1947 by Timely Comics). No mention of Joe Simon or Jack Kirby, at all, who came up with the idea independently of Martin Goodman (though it was initially published by Goodman). Stan Lee also claimed to have created the character when he was in the service during WWII, I’ve been told, but I have never seen proof of that. Judging from this chapbook however, I don’t have a hard time believing it happened.
